Administering CPR promptly can double or even triple a person's chances of survival during a cardiac arrest, making this training invaluable.

A CPR life support certificate ensures that first-aiders are prepared to maintain life until emergency services arrive.

What Will You Learn in This Course?

A cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops beating suddenly, halting blood flow to the brain and other critical organs. With around 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) occurring annually in the UK, survival rates are alarmingly low, with only 1 in 10 people surviving. This makes cardiac arrest one of the leading preventable causes of death in the UK.

The Resuscitation Council UK reports that for every minute CPR is not administered, the chance of survival decreases by 10%. CPR, when applied quickly, can dramatically increase the likelihood of survival, highlighting the importance of learning this skill.

This CPR course, often associated with Restart a Heart Day, teaches participants how to administer CPR in an emergency. You'll learn how to perform chest compressions, deliver rescue breaths, and use a defibrillator to sustain life until paramedics or other professionals can take over.

With a blend of practical and theoretical training, participants will leave the course confident in their ability to save a life. Key skills covered in the course include:

• Performing CPR as an individual
• CPR with rescue breaths
• Hands-only CPR
• Using an automated external defibrillator (AED)
