Course Overview

Our First Aid at Work Requalification Course runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm over two days. It covers essential topics from the FAW syllabus, ensuring that participants refresh their skills and knowledge to provide effective first aid in the workplace. Topics include:

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Recording and reporting accidents and incidents (including RIDDOR)
  • Addressing specific workplace injuries
  • Contents of a first aid kit and preventing cross-infection
  • Assessing situations and responding safely, effectively, and promptly in emergencies

Entry Requirements

This course is open to candidates who hold a current First Aid at Work certificate and are renewing it before the three-year expiry date.

Modules Breakdown

The course covers a wide range of first aid skills and scenarios relevant to the workplace, including:

  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for adults, children, and babies
  • Treating minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, splinters, and burns
  • Managing choking incidents
  • Recognising and treating shock
  • Treating wounds and controlling bleeding
  • Managing diabetes and asthma emergencies
  • Responding to fractures, strokes, and heart attacks
  • Recognising and treating anaphylactic shock and angina
  • Managing unconscious colleagues
  • Responding to sudden poisoning and eye injuries
  • Treating injuries to bones, muscles, and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Using AED (Automated External Defibrillator) & CPR
  • Managing head and spinal injuries
  • Applying bandages and treating scrapes and dislocations
  • Recognising and responding to emergency symptoms such as fainting and seizures
  • Treating bites and stings

This comprehensive course ensures that participants are fully prepared to handle a variety of emergency situations in the workplace.
